This years event was organized by a dedicated group of BCS school students and staff members along with individuals from the Brown County community. The State of Indiana has identified communication and collaboration as one of the top 5 characteristics that all students should leave K-12 with and the most impactful way to share who you are and what you care about. It can teach you how to communicate with others effectively, articulate your ideas clearly, and speak with confidence.

Lori Desautels
Professor, Butler University
Dr. Lori Desautels, has been an Assistant Professor at Butler University since 2016 where she teaches both undergraduate and graduate programs in the College of Education. Lori was also an Assistant Professor at Marian University in Indianapolis for eight years where she founded the Educational Neuroscience Symposium that has now reached thousands of educators and is in its 15th year. Lori’s passion is engaging her students through the social and relational neurosciences as it applies to education. She does this by integrating the tier one trauma accommodating Applied Educational Neuroscience framework, and its learning principles and practices into her coursework at Butler.

Don Wettrick
CEO and Founder of The STARTedUP Foundation
Don Wettrick is the founder and CEO of The STARTedUP Foundation, which hosts Innovate WithIN- Indiana’s innovation and entrepreneurship programming and competition. He is also the author of “Pure Genius: Building a Culture of Innovation,” which aims to create innovation mindsets in our schools. Don is known for his award-winning work as a teacher, educational and innovation consultant, and educational speaker. He is also a TEDx alumni and podcast host of over six years.
Sister Jeanne Hagleskamp
Vicar and General Treasurer of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods
Sister Jeanne Hagelskamp, SP is a Sister of Providence from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, IN. Currently, she serves as Vicar and General Treasurer of the Congregation. She has spent nearly all of her professional life in education, primarily at the secondary and college/university levels. For nearly 40 years, she has served in major administrative roles: president/principal at the secondary level and as Director of Teacher Education and Director of the Leadership Academy at the university level. She founded the Cristo Rey school in Indianapolis. She holds bachelor and masters degrees in mathematics with minors in physics, as well as a certificate of advanced study and a doctorate in educational leadership.
